SANGAMAM
is a summer camp for the children who almost lost their childhood. This is being
organized by People’s Watch; one of the pioneer Human Rights organization in
India, supported by a large family of committed people from the arena of Human
Rights.
In our attempt to achieve holistic welfare of the people we work with, every
summer it is our endeavor to organize a summer camp for the children of the
victims of human rights violations or child victims themselves with whom we have
already come into contact or within whom we have established links in the course
of the year. These children are not children that one would come across
everyday; they are children who have been forced to grow up overnight, missing
out on their childhood that so many of us cherished.
SANGAMAM,
was first organized in the year 2000 with just 20 children. The number of
children grew every year, challenging us to initiative better activities that
needed much more planning and resources.
This year we are expecting about 500 children from all around Tamilnadu to take
part in re-discovering their childhood at SANGAMAM09.
SANGAMAM 09
will be held on 9th to 17th of May 2009 at Mahatma School,
Alagarkovil, Madurai. The total cost for the camp is Rs. 7, 50,000 which is
roughly Rs 1,500 per child.
We hope you will join us in this endeavor to celebrate the individual and the re
– birth of childhood at SANGAMAM by making generous contributions. We
would like to insist that your contribution can be both in kind and in cash. For
your convenience, you can also draft a cheque / Demand draft favouring Centre
